OPERATIONALIZATION AND MONITORING

            The VTCC at Hisar shall be the Coordinating Centre for microbes of animal origin. It is also proposed to initiate the microbial repository activities for Dairy Microbes at NDRI, Karnal and for Rumen Microbes at NIANP, Bengaluru during the Plan period with the scientific positions already available with these institutes and only the contingencies and the amount required for Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary conditions to be made available within the allocated amount of the scheme.

The organizational setup would be as follows:

Furthermore, cooperating centers will be identified throughout the country in order to fulfill the mandate of the proposed bureau. The technical programme at these cooperating centers will be finalized through discussion with the concerned scientists/ PIs & Director at the coordinating centre and the competent authorities at ICAR. The VTCC will coordinate the work of all the cooperating centers and the results will be presented in a Review Committee Meeting held every year. The achievements and the shortcomings of all the centers will be compiled, discussed and remedial measures will be suggested from time to time. The facilities available at the respective institutes would be utilized during the XI Plan to achieve the proposed objectives. Being a relatively new scheme, it needs aggressive efforts for further strengthening and overall expansion in terms of scientific and technical manpower, supporting staff, works and equipments. Since the scheme is mainly financed by ICAR, its operation would be monitored and evaluated by holding periodic combined Institute Research Committee (IRC), Research Advisory Committee (RAC) and Institute Management Committee Meetings (IMC), QRT, Mid-term Appraisal and external audit for efficient and fruitful utilization of the funds.
